Super? Perhaps.
Know who I like? Whoever it was that came up with the idea of having little aliens narrating "nature films" on the topic of Bick's Pickles! Heehee! Good fun!

I don't even have a point
In the interests of making May a more productive web journaling month than ... well ... any of the recent months, I'm going to take a moment to make an entry. To that end, enjoy this random smattering of thoughts.
I finally watched Monday's episode of Heroes tonight. It really is quite a great show. It's certainly kept my interest.
I saw a recent infomercial for a GENUINE diamond ring, for just $29.95. (On the site to which I've linked, it's advertised for $19.95 USD.) Yes! A mere $29.95 for a GENUINE diamond ring, with a GENUINE diamond (surrounded by imported crystals). Again, that's a GENUINE 1/2 point diamond in there! Waitaminnit. A 1/2 point diamond? But aren't there 100 points in a carat? Doesn't that make this GENUINE diamond a mere 1/200th of a carat? Why yes! Yes it does! You can have 1/200th of carat of a GENUINE diamond for just $30. Yeeha. It's probably made of what falls off when they're cutting diamonds for good rings.
My dad arrived yesterday to stay here for a couple of nights while attending a conference nearby. Being that I worked last night and that he was at meetings until later tonight, we haven't had to do too much visiting. Still, he has managed to work in some topics of conversation more random than this posting. I don't really need to discuss his morning deodorant routine, do I? Yikes.
Be that as it may, I'll leave you with yet another literary quotation, this time from E.L. Konigsburg's T-Backs, T-Shirts, COAT, and Suit, 'cause that's what I reached behind me and grabbed off the shelf.
There was no laughter beneath their smiles.
There was no heart beneath their cleavage.

Nothing of Note, Really
I admit it. I'm posting out of obligation, not because I have much to say. Not that life's been uneventful. I've been run off my feet (surprise) but nothing necessarily to write about.
I went to see The Rocky Horror Show at Canstage last week with some of our own Rocky cast members. It was great fun. There were things I didn't care for about the production (most notably, the decision to have Rocky speak in a baby voice, making me want to choke him along with the director) and some really great things about it (most notably the Phantoms who were amazingly funcreepy). Sadly, I found Riff and Magenta a little dull. Still, don't get the wrong idea. We all had a smashingly good time there, and the performances were good.
I've worked at the restaurant quite a bit lately ... some shows have been remarkably dull while others have been a blast. I guess that's the nature of the beast these days.
Today I had the pleasure of having lunch with one friend and dinner with another. Yes, I played hooky from responsibilities! Yahoo! (Fear not, though; I have done some paperwork tonight.)
------
Edited to add:
Okay, I do have to comment very briefly on The Amazing Race.
Question: "How do you say 'airport'?"
Response: "Airport."
"Ma'am, I told you not to touch the screen." Hahahahaha!

Irritation with Blogger
1: Wrote a lengthy post about tonight's Amazing Race.
2: Went to post it.
3: Blogger had done all kinds of wonky formatting things/errors with it.
4: Tried to fix them.
5: Blogger declined to cooperate.
6: Got irritated.
7: Deleted the whole thing.
8: Wrote this instead.

Running (And Dancing) with Scissors
First things first, I'm glad that at least one person continues to read this even though I clearly have been less than dedicated as of late to writing.
On with the show! Edward Scissorhands was incredible! This ain't your granny's ballet, unless your granny is into really cool stuff like this, which she may. I think my Nanny would have been! The sets and costumes were brilliant, the dancing was pulled from many styles and the stage was packed with interesting and engaging characters. The amount of focus on giving the cast actual distinct PERSONALITIIES was so much fun! They must have had so much fun developing the movement and postures of their roles. During the big company numbers, there were all of these little stories going on. I'd like to see it again just to catch and follow more of them. Freakin' fun!
What else can I tell you? I spent the day ... um ... getting a haircut and folding laundry. How is it possible that that's about all I've done? Where did the day go, then? Hmmm... I also went out to pick up a few things at one point. I went for lightbulbs, mostly, but came home with a couple of t-shirts and a pair of shoes. And lightbulbs. I didn't forget the lightbulbs. Good ol' compact fluorescents. I'm working on replacing all of my old hot-bulbs little by little with them. I just wish they didn't come in over-blown blister packs! Environmental packaging would make more sense for a product aimed at reducing energy consumption and waste, right?
In any case, Happy Easter all! But before I go, let's have a quick literary moment, from Jeffrey Archer, writing in A Prison Diary:
"Once I'm calm enough to speak, I thank him for the confidence he has shown in allowing me to share such a terrible secret."

New Leaves and all of that
I'm going to make some attempt to be a bit more ... um ... present in this ridiculous excuse for a weblog this month. Wish me well.
Go ahead.
Wish me well. Right now. Wish it! WISH IT!
*ahem*
In any case, things are massively hectic at work, but hey. Counting blessings and all, it's not so bad in the end.
On the briefly exciting front, I'm off to see Edward Scissorhands, the ballet, on stage this weekend. It looks incredible and I'm looking forward to it like crazycakes. I'll be sure to give my thoughts, brief as they're likely to be, next week sometime.
In the meantime, though, let's enjoy a brief passage from Hans Christian Andersen's The Conceited Apple Branch, shall we?
"It was the month of May."
I hope you've enjoyed this literary diversion.
Go ahead.

What in the name of all things bright and good were they thinking?
Okay, so I haven't posted in a while. Things have been rather hectic as of late and quite frankly, posting entries hasn't been that high on my list. Still, this has brought me out of hermitage.
Sometimes one bumps into curious things on the internet. This was one of those links that popped up in a completely unrelated quest, but I was caught off-guard by it and took a look. It seems like those brilliant minds at America's Next Top Model did a theme week on Death Scenes. What's even more ridiculous than the generally offensive "sexy women who have been brutally murdered" theme is the absurdity of the featured commentary by the judges. Take a look. Read the comments. Shake your head. If need be, change the channel.
It baffles the mind.

Not Without Some Pressure
The run of Me and My Girl is underway and I'm currently wrapping up our brief break before starting it up again tomorrow. It's gone well enough, though not without its flubs. I collided with a set piece when exiting into a very dark wing on the first night. I'm sure the audience saw me run off and then heard, Crash! Smash! Bang! Bang! Badum-Bum-Bash! followed by a little voice saying, "Are you okay?" I wasn't hurt, having spent all of the smashing time staying on my feet, but my shiny patent shoes were a bit scraped up. Ug.
Of course, my friend John, who plays the lead, is immensely funny, so that's really all that matters. I just have to wander on and off behaving like a spoiled brat. It's all good.
I'm currently bogged down with paperwork for work, once again, and trying desperately to muster up the motivation to get it all done. Of course, it will get done because it must get done. That's really all there is to it.
Finally, here's something I've found amusing for some time. Some of you may already know about it. It's the Material Safety Data Sheet for Softsoap Antibacterial Hand Soap that hangs in the staff bathroom at work. Remember that it's for soap. If you look closely, you'll see that it's Flash Point is "Not established". I figure, if your soap has caught fire, you have much bigger issues to deal with. My favourite, though is that, under the heading of "Exposure Controls / Personal Protection" it says to "Avoid skin and eye contact", and that "The use of safety goggles and protective gloves is recommended for potential exposure to product". Yes, we should wear gloves and avoid skin contact with our SOAP. Hahahaha! What are these people thinking?
So there you have it. Another oddity I've discovered in my travels.

Briefly, When Said
Okay, here you go. I'm going to slam out a post in three minutes or less. Rocky Horror went remarkably well. The audiences were full and full of energy and seemed to enjoy themselves immensely. I expected to have a good time doing the show, but it was far more fun than I had forseen. What a blast. Riff-Raff turned out to be a very physically demanding role (don't even think about Richard O'Brien in the movie, because I wasn't much like that at all). The theatre has this staircase that runs up the centre of it from the main floor up to the balcony, and up and down this staircase I threw myself with alarming frequency. After doing double shows (with a mere 20 minutes or so between) on both Friday and Saturday nights, I was pretty much aching in every muscle group. Still, completely worth it!
Now I'm a few days from the opening of Me and My Girl. Tonight, my friend Tracy and I wound up in gales of laughter backstage because of a running and rambling dialogue we tend to have these days when we're working together. Be not mistaken: I do not use the term "gales of laughter" lightly. Both of us were aching in the gut and tearing in the eyes from our laughter. Don't ask; there's no way I could explain it in a way to make it seem funny to anyone else.
There. My time is up. You've got the basic scoop. Now I'm going to bed.
